The Otherfolk's Final Cover And A Price Drop (And Why You Can't Buy It Yet)

A year ago today, I launched The Otherfolk into the world. It was a pretty good book wrapped in an okay cover I'd thrown together in Photoshop.
Soon enough, I decided I wanted a new cover. Illustrated covers have such an appeal, I wanted to catch people's eyes. So I set out to find an illustrator.
I hired one on Fiverr, and it didn't turn out like what I wanted at all (mostly because it was dirt cheap). So I went after another, cutting my losses. I found one I loved, saved about $200, and paid her to do it.
I loved it.
I found out a month or two later that she had made it with artificial intelligence.
I had draped my hard, honest work in a robe of false talents and fake art.
Weeks later, I finally argued some of my money back from Fiverr (I still lost around $300 in indirect losses, but the total losses were around $550). I tried to move on, but I was at a loss. Honest artists had to charge far more than I could dream to afford.
In a panic, I put the old cover back on the first book and scrambled to find a way to put a cover on the second book before its quickly approaching release date.
Little did I know, the answer was right under my nose - or, rather, in my youth group. My best friend, Talitha Hirst, did the cover for the second book. It's beautiful, and we've been trying for ages to get the first one to match.
Finally, it does. The spines. The interiors. The pages. The back. The front. The font.
Stop listening to me and look at it.

Okay, okay, I won't fangirl. So why can't you buy this awesome thing yet?! Why isn't Talitha's gorgeous painting plastered all over Amazon and Barnes & Noble?
Well, the answer contains my final book birthday surprise: beginning March 27th, 2026, The Otherfolk and Beyond the Wall will be available in the United States for only $11.99!
But the bad news is that I can't upload these new files (the new inside with fancy formatting or the new cover) until the new prices go live, and the 27th was the soonest option. So, hang tight, and just stare at that beautiful art up there until it's up and ready to go!!
Thank you guys so much for your support. I could not have made it this far without you. Write on, and remember your dreams are never as far away as they seem. ❤️
